Amman is the usual starting point for road trips to Petra, the Dead Sea, Jerash, Madaba and Wadi Rum. Renting a car gives travellers flexibility, especially when several destinations are part of the itinerary. The best experience begins with accurate information about your arrival, documents, coverage and vehicle requirements.
Queen Alia Airport pickup with Rushmore
Rushmore does not operate a rental desk inside the airport terminal. After passport control and luggage collection, contact our team. We coordinate collection from Departures Gate 5 on the second floor and take you to our nearby office, approximately one kilometre—or about five minutes—from the terminal. At return, the vehicle is inspected at our office before we take you to the airport.
What details should you send?
Provide your rental dates, pickup and return locations, arrival flight, WhatsApp number, number of passengers, luggage and preferred vehicle category. Passport and driving-licence details are required before final confirmation. If you need a child seat, second driver, hotel delivery or a specific insurance option, include it in the original request.
Choose a vehicle for the whole itinerary
A compact car is practical in Amman and easy to park. A sedan gives more luggage space for business travel or a longer rental. Crossovers and SUVs suit families and multi-city itineraries, while a minivan may be more comfortable for larger groups. Choose for your longest travel day—not only the first journey from the airport.
Driving and parking in Amman
Amman is built across hills and busy neighbourhoods. Traffic is heaviest around normal commuting times, road names may be used differently by locals and parking can be limited near downtown attractions. Keep navigation active, allow extra time and ask your hotel about parking before arrival.
For sightseeing, the Amman Citadel, Downtown, Rainbow Street, the Jordan Museum and the Royal Automobile Museum are common starting points. Plan several nearby stops together rather than repeatedly crossing the city.
Insurance, deposits and off-road restrictions
Ask what the confirmed rate includes, the applicable excess or deductible, the deposit amount and the expected refund method. A police report is required when damage occurs. Insurance does not cover off-road or desert driving, so keep the vehicle on paved roads and use authorised local operators for desert experiences.
Why Rushmore uses a request system
Vehicle availability changes with season, category and rental period. A request lets our team check the actual vehicle, price, insurance, deposit and pickup plan before sending a confirmation. This avoids presenting an instant reservation that cannot be delivered as requested.
